At 53, I don’t just study high performance—I live it. Whether I’m pushing through a high-intensity resistance training session or managing the physical demands of a 6'3" frame in a high-speed world, I know that "good enough" nutrition doesn't cut it when you are moving at full speed. My understanding of human physiology wasn't just formed in a classroom; it was forged in environments where "off-days" weren't an option.

 

The Performance Pedigree

I’ve been on the ice as an USA Hockey certified coach and player since I was eight years old, my athletic journey has taken me from the hockey rink to competing at the highest levels of skiing and snowboarding. Today, I translate that same competitive drive into the fast-paced world of competitive pickleball.

But for me, performance has always been about more than just sport. From 1997 through 2008, I served as a firefighter at Copper Mountain Resort, a role that demanded peak physical readiness at 10,000 feet. During that same period, I began my career as a helicopter and airplane pilot.

In the cockpit and on the fire line, you learn that precision is everything. You don't guess with your fuel, your equipment, or your focus. I bring that same "zero-fail" pilot’s mindset to every nutrition plan I build.

 

Why I Built HPSNP

As a father to a varsity hockey goalie, I’ve seen firsthand the "information gap" in youth and amateur sports. I’ve watched dedicated athletes grind through three-period games and grueling weekend tournaments fueled by nothing but generic advice and "gut feeling."

I didn't want to just offer another meal plan; I wanted to build a bridge between metabolic science and athletic reality. I knew there was a more scientific way to protect an athlete's growth, enhance their speed, and ensure their recovery. That’s why I became a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Sports Nutrition Coach.

I focus on the "Muscle-Centric" approach: understanding the specific protein thresholds and leucine triggers required to ignite muscle protein synthesis and keep an athlete’s engine running long after the final whistle.
